The world’s first coins appeared around 600 B.C.,jingling around in the pockets of the Lydians,a kingdom tied to Ancient Greece and located in modern-day Turkey.
They featured the stylized head of a lion and were made of electrum,an alloy of gold and silver.
This short history lesson is about the roots of the first mints.
Coins were just an innovation these days and we have to think deeply that coins from every country represent mainly the culture and the lifestyle of it’s citizens.
I am so proud to have in my collection many of my country’s coins and despite the fact that they are quite spectacular they also have a sentimental value for me.
